McCann Global Health was invited to participate in The Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves’ 2017 Clean Cooking Forum held from October 24-26 in New Delhi.
On October 24, Andrew Shirmer shared the “Upgrade to Gas” campaign that McCann Global Health has launched in partnership with local NGO Africare and Lagos based STB McCann. Andrew also moderated the closing plenary made up of clean cooking “champions,” including, Ghana’s Second Lady, Samira Bawuni, Dr. Ajay Mathur, Director-General of TERI (The Energy and Resources Institute) and international musician, Rocky Dawuni.
The Forum brought together over 600 global leaders and practitioners from business, finance, civil society, the UN, government, and academia to share best practices, explore innovative approaches and financing mechanisms, and help forge new partnerships during three days of informative sessions, networking events, and technology and fuel demonstrations.
The Alliance and the sector are several years into a journey to create an enabling environment for scaling cleaner and more efficient cooking solutions and moving the dial on enhancing awareness, demand, and use of cleaner and more efficient cookstoves and fuels. Stakeholders have come together to share their efforts to drive demand and achieve greater impacts for women’s empowerment, environment, livelihoods, and health. McCann Global Health is proud to be a member of this community using communications to make a meaningful difference.
